Meet Me at Midnight by Suzanne Enoch
This book is a fabulous read. It is a traditional Regency Romance with a murder mystery plot and a "compromised-into-marriage" plot, along with a host of entertaining characters. The heroine, Vixen, grew on me. At first, I found her behavior ridiculous and frustrating, as she repeatedly kissed rakes and rogues. However, as the story progressed, she began to acknowledge that her actions had consequences. Although her parents were portrayed as uncaring, a real Regency family would have sent her away to the country and arranged a marriage with an elderly, wealthy peer who wouldn't care enough to ask questions. Vixen got lucky in the story, but that's what makes it fiction and not real life. Sin, the hero, was magnificent - a gorgeous, tortured, war-hero spy, who was also a rake. I wish we had gotten more information on Sin's cohorts, especially Crispin and Marley. The next book in the series has a different hero, but I'm excited to read about the headmistress from the girl's school. Overall, this was a fun and dramatic story with well-crafted characters and plot.
