The Parfit Knight Juliet Blyth
The story follows Rosalind Vernon, who lives a quiet and isolated life on her brother's estate. One stormy winter's evening, the Marquis of Amberley turns up on her doorstep after an encounter with highwaymen. Neither of them expected to find what they were looking for in each other.
As with any true romance, their journey is full of ups and downs. They face gossip, familial opposition, dark secrets from the past, and an unscrupulous villain. But despite these challenges, they strive for their happily ever after.
This is my first Stella Riley novel and it certainly won't be the last. The book transported me effortlessly to the Georgian era, with its immersive dialogue, clothing, and people. Each character was interesting in their way.
I thoroughly enjoyed the story. Riley's writing is clear and period-appropriate, keeping me engaged in the story. Although Amberley's motives may be unclear to those around him, the reader gets to know his character immediately.
The story is filled with lovely characters and humorous moments. There's enough angst in the storyline to keep it from being bland and create some suspense. The romance is lovely and swoon-worthy, leaving me eager to read the other books in the series.
