The Tudor Crown by Joanna Hickson
I found this book to be a captivating exploration of the tumultuous beginnings of Henry Tudor's reign. The chapters featuring Margaret stood out to me the most, bursting with vivid imagery and emotion. Joanna Hickson skillfully navigates the murky waters of Henry's exile, a period shrouded in mystery and uncertainty. However, I did find myself wrestling with the flow between the two narratives, which I imagine posed a challenging task for the author.
Though Henry VII may not be my favorite monarch, the last chapter offers a surprisingly graceful insight into his character, casting a more hopeful light on the possibilities of a sequel that delves into his marriage with Elizabeth. Those years are often scant in authentic historical records, leaving much to the imagination. I find myself eagerly anticipating another book in this rich saga, longing to uncover more about this fascinating time in history.
